The Slumdog is Barking

Opo.

And I waited for Pebong araw for almost two hours… ang tagal ng sunrise!
napaaga… I was there before 5:30am!

Kahit antok na ako at pagod dahil sa Medya Noche (at sobrang busog! gluttony ito!) —-
(talaga nga namang nagmaganda ako dahil tinamad akong mag-gloves at magmuffler!)
eh kasi nga naman pala they have high regard for nature… they used to worship the sun…

Here are a few videos —
Will post the pics later…

The Rising Sun In the Land of the Rising Sun

Why I Got Curious with Benjamin

http://www.tribute.ca/tribute_objects/images/movies/The_Curious_Case_of_Benjamin_Button/poster_lg.jpgThe image “http://www.thecriticalcondition.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/benjamin-button.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Benjamin Button’s case is really something to be curious about…
I got soo curious about him I didn’t even notice the passing of time… as in!
And even though I aged along with Benjamin and along with the movie — literally!
(yep it’s darn long!) pero okay lang…coz every bit of it was beautifully made…
so it’s worth my (not sooo precious) time!

So in my opinion… the Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a great movie!
Here’s what stirred my curiousity and got me raving about it  —-

-   first of all, it stars Brad Pitt! undoubtedly one of the finest and handsomest actor around…
for sure walang kokontra dyan… hehehe
-   it also stars Cate Blanchett  highly acclaimed too!
-   Brad’s daughter in the movie is his real life daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt!
o di ba… nakakacurious lalo…
-
the story is fascinatingly strange and unpredictable (medyo nakakakilabot pa nga eh) >
Benjamin’s growth and development was physiologically and anatomically reversed —
he was a geriatric baby at birth and a pediatric old man when he died…
whoah! ang kulit noh!
-   but what really got me totally curious about it was its stunning similarity with the real-life
Progeria disease (the Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria syndrome)

More than half a decade ago, I chanced upon a documentary on HBO about this fatal aging syndrome and sobra talagang tumatak yon sa utak ko… halos maiyak yata ako while watching it…  grabe kawawa  kasi ung mga bata who prematurely aged ;(

Like these kids on the pic below…
they are less than 13 years old…
coz they usually die when they reach that age…
baka nga nasa heaven na sila ngayon…

Basta, watch it! ;)  Kakaiba kasi…
it’s actually an unusual, out of this world love story…

Here’s one advice — use your heart instead of your head when you watch this…
kasi if you switch your mental light bulb on,
for sure mapupuno ng tanong ang utak mo
like kung pano nangyari yung ganon, bakit ganon, etc.
Imposible naman talaga yung dulong part…
SPOILER ALERT! >>> naging baby kasi siya ulit… ;P

Wag masyadong magisip okay… just watch it…
ride on it…
and learn from it…

Weighing Seven Pounds

The image “http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3211/2989888968_0150956af9.jpg?v=0” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Nope! This is not a film about an endomorph desperately trying to lose seven pounds….
And neither is it about some gangsters on the run with seven pounds of drugs….
And no… this is not a can-you-survive-with-seven-pounds-a-month documentary…
not even British… uh-uh…

Seven pounds… seven pounds… seven pounds….
I could’ve easily guessed what it was
had I been serious in my anatomy class!

I only watched the trailer right after watching the movie…
so I had no idea… and since Will Smith’s face
is all over the poster and I heart him and his movies
so keber!  I had to watch it…

Anyway, this movie is sooo full of heart —> both literally and figuratively!
and it touched and crushed my heart, too… awwwww….
The scenes are great.. script is well written and the actors are fantastic!
Will, Rosario, Woody and all the others…. sugoi ne…

Now here’s a warning! This movie is a tearjerker!
Of course, only if you let it get into you…
Make sure the mascara you’ll put on is waterproof
or you might end up looking like you’re late for Halloween…
I really cried buckets and barrels of tears… huhuhu…
ang heavy and sad nito…
there’s too much misery and sadness in it
pero buti na lang there’s too much hope, too….

So guys…
End the year right —
Watch this film.  Learn from it.

Have a meaningful 2009! ;)
—-  000  —-

Just a side note —
Napansin ko lang na parang magkahawig pala
si Will Smith and Jericho Rosales in some of the scenes…
wala lang… hehehe

Celebrating with the bees

September 28 /11:15pm:

Randy was still busy with YM and since I was already in the mood for a walk, I decided to go ahead to look for a place to hang out and eat… I was hearting the ramen at Bamiyan but since Luke wanted to meet us at the eki (train station), my feet decided to walk right towards Ronald’s place instead…

McD’s is just beside the eki and a 2 minute walk from our place… and since it’s the last day of the promo I better be there to take advantage of it before it closes..  we’ve been hitting the fastfood chain everyday (for the whole week!) to gnaw on those fillet sandwiches selling at an eye popping price of ¥100/$1… super cheaaaap!  and we’d eat 3 pcs. each…. yep 3! coz aside from our big appetite, the price of all three is just the same as the regular price of one piece! hehehe! ang saya! :p

I went to Odakyu Mart to buy a liter of muscat tea (my current fave) then went to Mcdo, ordered 3 pcs. of fillet-o-fish, asked for a cup of ice for my tea, climbed to the second floor and sat in the corner beside the big vase of flowers… then I took the book out of my bag to continue what I’ve been reading as my mouth gets busy chomping on my little feast…

There I was in that unimaginable moment — killing time with a book on my hand and minutes away from birthday! I am not exaggerating… I am soooo not fond of reading eversince I learned my ABCs that up until now, it makes me wonder how I was able to survive school without that skill… so now, i dunno what got into me… hmm is this my sign of aging??? hehehe i guess it is…

Resting on the table right where my gaze was fixed is the book, The Secret LIfe of  Bees. While I was eager to know what’s gonna happen to Lily and her nanny, Rosaleen, in their adventure, deep inside me, I was having mixed feelings… maybe because my age meter’s gonna tick within a few minutes… and it’s byebye time to 8 and hello to 9…  whoah! im nearing the big 3-0!!!

Hmmm actually aging was’t really an issue for me… and it wasn’t exactly the reason why i was feeling fuzzy… i don’t know… it’s totally different… it’s way beyond the weirdness of reading this book with my birthday approaching… hmmm maybe because this is the first time i am celebrating it away from good old Manila… and maybe because i am not used to hearing this kind of sound… a euphony of flipping pages blending with the love songs being played inside McD’s… right now… on my birthday!

My past birthdays are like arias… the constant beeping and ringing of phones, clinking silvers and glasses, endless chattering, jabbering and giggling with friends over lunch, over dinner and over coffee… magdamag na kulitan with cousins… ngawaan sa videoke... etc… all these are part of the full orchestra that accompanies me throughout my big day, creating music so wonderful that even Bach or Beethoven would love… hmmm nakakamiss…

Now the music may not be as loud as before… and even if what’s playing now belongs to the opposite genre, it’s still as perfect as before… yeah it is… even if I’m like singing acapella this time…

After crumpling the wrapper of my second fillet sandwich, I looked at my watch — it’s 11:58pm…hmm what’s taking them so long to follow? So I stopped reading on Lily’s new life at the bee house and took the book back in my bag, packed up, cleared my table and went downstairs to leave only to find out that my family’s there putting candles on my cake…
tadaaah!!!huli kayo! hahaha!!!

Geez… anobeeeh… ayaw ko ng ganito eh… I feel awkward everytime I get surprises like this… kasi naman I’m done blowing my birthday cake 2 weeks ago pa… and another thing is, mas sanay ako na nagsusurprise…  ;p

As soon as the candles were all sticked in and lighted, they started singing the birthday song out loud… nakakahiya…. hehehe…  then after that, we ordered 10 pcs fillet-o-fish for take out… whaaaah!

That was it… a night with the bees… with the fishes… and most importantly, with the pigs… este with my family pala… hahaha… tarush…

Simple yet sooo memorable… thanks Lord…

(I’m actually not done yet with this entry… pero napansin ko na mahaba na pala…
hehehe… sa susunod na post na lang….)

P.S.
The Secret LIfe of Bees is worth the read…
and the movie based on it?
It’s a must-see!!!
It stars Dakota Fanning, Queen Latifah
and Alicia Keys! :)

Yesterday was "waiting" day…. as in…
Waited for Luke at Kobeya for an hour…
then waited for him again while he played basketball…
and I waited for almost four hours!

From Kobeya (Ebisu) we headed to a furniture store somewhere near Ueno
to buy a gift for Mommy… birthday niya kasi sa Monday…

Then around 4:30 pm he was rushing to leave the store na
because their game will start at 6…
We bought some stuffs and they are soo heavy so
I told him to just go ahead and play basketball
while I look for the nearest Starbx where I can rest my tired hands and feet
and study kanji to kill time…

whaah! sayang naman ung idle time… haay….

I was able to watch cartoons, and naruto!!!
Then I also watched the news about the earthquake in Sendai…
I browsed the internet for awhile lang kasi mahal ang fee
yahoo!keitai kasi ung gamit ko…. walang free wifi…

And my fon has jap-eng dictionary, too kaya nakapagbasabasa ako at
nakapagreview ng new words… hehehe….

Thanks to technology… my FOUR hours were not wasted!
Naging fun and educational ;)

This Toshiba phone has great functions aside from it’S 3.2 megapixel cam
and 3G features…  But will try iphone soon since Mac program is superb!… kakalaunch lang din kasi dito non eh… and buti na lang 3G na yon…

An english instructor and his student were seated across from where I was…

Nakakainis kasi ung english teacher… sobrang bulok magturo….
haaay! at syempre ung japanese girl eh sayang saya…
basta english at amerikano… go!
if she  only knew na substandard ang quality ng turo
ng teacher niya…  grrrr….. kakapikon….

(Will write about this sa ibang entry)
